In 2007, dozens of people from throughout New Mexico helped inaugurate the NM Hepatitis C Quilt Project. The theme for this
year is “Wiping Out Hep C in New Mexico” by creating 72 individual squares representing every segment of New Mexico’s population and
every part of the state. Hepatitis C does not discriminate and affects people of all ages and backgrounds.

Hepatitis C is often
referred to as “The Dragon” or “The Sleeping Dragon.” In 2008, thousands of New Mexicans are “living with the Dragon.” Whether
you are infected or affected by hepatitis C, those who decorated a square were able to symbolically “slay the dragon”.
